The New Mexico Rider

Anyone have experience on this trip off-road (about 6 miles I think) to the base of Pedernal?  Thanks in advance for any comments, information on the experience.

Cerro Pedernal? Shouldn't be too difficult. FR100 is a main road and can connect with FR144 to get down to Hwy 126 to Hwy 4 then FR 289.

Have you been on this ride?

I haven't been to the base of cerro pedernal, but have ridden the other roads mentioned. All are pretty good roads for a GS or other large bike with the exception of taking weather into consideration.

I should have made it clearer when I was referring to "Pedernal" - I was referring to the "Pedernal" mountain in Georgia O'Keefe country, west-northwest of Espanola, near Abiquiu and Ghost Ranch. Sorry for the confusion with the area southeast of Clines Corners.

You can get to it from highway 96 at Youngsville. The mountain is just north east of there. CR201 or FR100 (can't remember which way it is marked) will take you east from 96 toward the mountain. Just follow your nose or a map to the base--I went toward FR144 so I did not go to the base, but passed just south of it. I've done from 96 at Youngsville across all of this in my truck. Ditch is right on the routing as best as I recall. You can also take 144 over toward Espnaola--nice long dirt ride but a lot of dirt intersections are not very well marked.
