i have an 05' and i run Dunlop D606 on the rear and Perelli MT21 on the front(dot approved). i ran a set of 606's through and my biggest complaint was the front end wanting to wash out in dirt riding aggressively. The MT21 on the front solved that problem and the set handles better than expected on the road. The only issue is once half worn the MT21 performs like a new 606 in dirt. my 2 cents.

af,ter using all kinds of tires i have finally settled on 2 that i like.i use IRC TR8 in 300/21[dot approved] on the front of my xr600r,and my xr250r.the best tire for the rear on the 600 is michelin t63[s rated] 130/80/18.
the same t63 tire on my 250 [120/80/18].the best thing about these tires is the unbelivable price from MOTORCYCLE SUPERSTORE ,irc is $49.00,the highest price for the largest rear t63 is $57.99.at these prices one can afford to buy a couple of sets.superstore also ships free on orders over $75.00,another big plus!
happy trails to you
