Jody H might attend WildTurkey's event

The 2nd Annual Wild Turkey Pike's Peak Adventure Life is a journey not a destination. - Ralph Waldo Emerson Pike's Peak may be the target for the trip, but the "reason" is ADVENTURE! http://www.ppihc.com/Default.aspx The 88th Annual Pikes Peak I…

Anyone want to go next week? I'm heading down probably Thursday and will trailer Rich's KLR while he rides down on something else (my truck is full). Will stay at the Cottonwood campground at the West end of the River Road.
February 12
I can't make it either, hard to go on that weekend!
February 10
I won't make it this time, going to hit the Tarantula race South of Alamorgordo. Kind of planning to go to Big Bend next Thursday through Sunday.

There's a KTM Adv. rider from San Angelo, Tx. that's planning on making it. I'll be there (as long as my Renazco seat arrives in time, it should be here next week).

Anyone else coming along? I started some maintenance on the DR and it has progressed to the whole airbox/jet ket/exhaust upgrades so I hope I get it all sorted before then. Bike is apart just waiting for the parts and hope the jetting goes well.

I first discovered it in the mid 80's, love the place. Also have done the Outer Mountain Loop. Bought a nice walking stick at Boquillas a couple years ago. The guy yells at you from across the river now.
January 25
Back before 9/11 you could cross over to Boquillas Mx in a boat, ride a donkey to town and drink beer with the locals. The BP frowns on that now since it's not an approved border crossing.

I've solo backpacked the majority of Big Bend, including Outer Mtn. Loop, Strawhouse, Mule Ears, Burro Mesa, Apache Canyon, all of the Basin trails and several cross country backpacks. I've made at least two trips a year to BB since the late '80's.…

I wouldn't want that VW after it has gone down Black Gap! That might be another worthy exploration. To get a back country permit for camping you have to go to Panther Junction when you arrive. This pic is from Old Ore Road last week.

Really, there's nothing in BB that's an off-road challenge. Every road in the park could be traveled in a VW Bug. It is fun seeing the park from outside the confines of a cage though. Cottonwood would be a good spot since I'll be tenting it. I reall…

I drove Old Ore Road last week. Would be a good bike trip, was rough but not technical in my F250. Also rode much of Grapevine checking out the back country campsites, did that and Paint Gap on the DR. Also Maverick Road on the West side, washboard…
January 25
Maybe check out the less traveled areas in the northeast part of the park along Old Ore Road and the Dinosaur Bone/Dagger Flat areas. Could also check out the Paint Gap Hills and Grapevine Hills.

I just got back but from BB, it was low 80's when they weather in NM sucked (-: Presume River Road will be the Saturday ride? I'll probably haul the DR behind the truck camper.

Saint Valentines Day Massacre, Big Bend, Tx. at Big Bend National Park, Texas
February 12, 2010 to February 14, 2010
Valentines Day ride and camp along the Rio Grande river in the awesome Big Bend National Park. Meet up at the Rio Grande Village RV park on Friday evening, explore the dirt backroads all day Saturday, hot springs Saturday evening, perhaps some backc…

North end of the Guadalupe Mtns.

Took a 280 mile day trip today.
My route was from home, into the Guadalupe Mtns., forest service roads and trails from Queen, NM to Hope, NM., then return home.
Worked out to about 180 miles of pavement and 100 miles of dirt.
Heres are a few of the highlights.

Say hello to my little friend:

Overlooking the "Broke Off Mtns." from the "Rim Road".
