The New Mexico Rider
my box canyon ride!
weather was beautiful!roads were fantastic from start to end.
alas,the BOX after lookin at pics and readin other ride reports i was really waitin for the box to arrive.first thing into the box real deep sand and gravel mix in pretty deep water.sunk the old xr600r and myself in to the airbox.collected a sizable amount of water in the airboxand then into top end and bottom end.got it runnin and decided to see if it would clear out and cool down myself.hauled off and rode it hard for about 2 miles and it cleared out and was runnin decent.pulled the dipstick and white foamy oil came out.decided to ride on to Montcello and change oil at 7/11 store.they don't have one!i rode very slow to T or C
and changed oil behind walmart.also had to buy denture paste there because i could'nt keep my teeth in.i guess the box takes it's toll in different ways! left there at 6:38 to hit the freeway to Socorro.stopped to change headlight to A.C. voltage at the roadside park.got to bob"s house atabout 8:00.chatted for a while and loaded with Bob's help and headed out after hearing everyone was allright.sorry i missed all the carnage in the canyon.
