The New Mexico Rider

Took a 280 mile day trip today.
My route was from home, into the Guadalupe Mtns., forest service roads and trails from Queen, NM to Hope, NM., then return home.
Worked out to about 180 miles of pavement and 100 miles of dirt.
Heres are a few of the highlights.

Say hello to my little friend:

Overlooking the "Broke Off Mtns." from the "Rim Road".

The long and winding Forest Road 67:

Lunch at "Little Frijole" stock tank. What I don't have are pictures of my bike stuck in the mudhole a mile or so back up the trail. Pirelli Scorpions suck in the mud. It's like riding on greased glass:

As far as the eye can see... nothing:

A self portrait of me and the mighty KTooM:

Destination Hope, as in hope you weren't expecting to buy gas or a soda on Sunday:

Nice ride. Snake is a Black-tailed Rattlesnake (Crotalus molossus). Not the most common rattlesnake in NM, but probably one of the prettiest.

The snake was multi colored and multi patterned, very odd looking rattler.

Great Pictures. Did the snake actully look two tone (back half lighter) or was it just the way the sun was hitting its skin? I want to ride that part of the state sometime in the near future. When I get close I might PM you for more details on the roads down that way. Keep giving us posts of your trips.
